PROLOGUE
They said goodbye to family, friends, and teammates in Hong
Kong. They would be out of contact for almost a month. What would they do? How
would they feel? Would God even speak to them? These questions and many more bounced
around in the heads of the entire G-Squad as they entered China.
ACT I
One chilly night in Beijing, 5 Transformers huddled close in
the Leo Hostel king-sized, super squishy bed. Their fearless leader, Kill-uh
asked, “If the sky’s the limit for dreaming about ministry in Kenya, what do
you hope it will be like. The ever-impulsive Curly automatically proclaimed,
“Beach Ministry!” There were a few chuckles, several rolling of the eyes, and a
motion to proceed to more serious suggestions. Curly pouted for just a mere
second, I mean she was mostly kidding, sort of. So she provided a new and more
reasonable wish, “I would like to work with children, ones suffering from AIDS
or HIV, but not just play with them, I hope for a chance to teach. City Boy, agreed
he also would like to work with children. City Boy has the energy of 500
stampeding elephants when he is around children. Kill-uh, smiled and
enigmatically said, “Ok.” Next Farmy laid forth her desire, “I would like to
work in the bush, with women or in some sort of agricultural setting.” “Hee
Hee,” giggled the Transformers. It went without saying that Gigantor who was
sleeping for he was nursing an enormous headache, would relish the thought of
working in an agricultural setting as well. Two votes were cast for the bush!
Southern Belle, agreed that her heart was for women, and she would love to
minister to them in Kenya. Kill-uh, looked around at her Transformers, and
asked that they cover her in prayer. Decisions had to be made soon, and she
needed discernment. Thankfully, Kill-uh is gifted with more than her share of
discernment, and as the Transformers went to bed that night, they prayed that
the Lord would give their leader an extra dose of wisdom to select their
ministry.
ACT II
The Transformers sat excitedly in their seats on the bus
conveying them to the Beijing Railway Station, Allison was about to announce
their different ministry details for Kenya. She began, ” Transformers and
Aletheia, you will leave Nairobi on a train which will transport you to a bus
which will take you to a ferry. You will live on an island in Lake Victoria, City Boy mouthed, “Island?!” while
simultaneously giving the victory sign to Curly .and will be working with
widows and children affected by the AIDS epidemic. It is an agricultural
setting Curly whipped her head around to
find Farmy, who was already grinning… with no electricity and each of you
will be given a goat, all Transformers
and half the bus looked at Gigantor who couldn’t have had a wider more
satisfied smile on his face not sure what you will do with this goat but
you are getting one.” By this time the transformers were ecstatic! Everything
and more than what they had hoped for would be explored in Kenya.
EPILOGUE
Dear Reader, you will notice that the Lord answered every
single one of the prayers offered up to Him in the affirmative. He creatively
made sure that each of their hopes would come to fruition. This story sums up
China. Every morning the Transformers would gather to pray, and each day they
would walk the city in prayer, and to look for friends. Although God did not
always answer their prayers in the affirmative, He always answered their
prayers. Many friends were made, many heard the gospel for the first time, and
all for the Glory of God! J
