We finished our first week In Puerto Barrios, Guatemala!
We are living in this beautiful bright home! 3 Rooms and 1 bathroom for 13 people. It’s super cozy. I have bed bugs for friends at night and no AC, but you know it’s not that bad. One day the water went out for 24 hours, and since it is Incredibly hot here everyone needed a shower, big time. Thankfully it rained that night and we took advantage. I was reading in my room when i heard yelling, lots of it. I went to investigate and people were grabbing shampoo bottles and changing into their bathing suits . We went next door and showered, in the rain, it was glorious.
We are partnering this month with Shofar FM a Christian radio station. This week was their annual fundraiser and so we went door to door every morning and afternoon asking homes for donations. Almost every home we went to was willing to give even though they didn’t have much. Many even told us how much they loved the radio station. One day Jill and I stayed at a house for 20 minutes because they had a monkey in the backyard, and she was a total show off. Another day, Ben and I were invited to make tortillas. I love this hospitable warm community.
