As I have been discussing the World Race with friends and family over the past few months I have been very encouraged and blessed by the conversations. Most people genuinely respect my decision and want to help in any way that they can. However, I have had a number of people completely miss the purpose of this trip. They see it as a year spent globetrotting to foreign places and helping a few people while I'm there.
While the World Race can be described as such, it is much more than that. It is an answer to the call that Jesus gives us in Matthew 28, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded." As Christians, we are all called to preach the gospel anywhere and everywhere; not just when it is comfortable for us.
Jesus calls us to take up our cross and follow him! There is nothing greater you can do in this life than live for Christ and help lead someone to Christ. Too often, we lay down our cross when times are tough and begin to live for ourselves. I pray that you don't give in when the world is bearing down on you but instead, run to Jesus and find your refuge in him. There you will find the strength to keep carrying your cross and press on.
I'd also like to show you a video from magicians Penn and Teller about a man who gave Penn a Bible after a show:

Its amazing that an atheist can have that kind of perspective on heaven and hell and evangelizing, while Christians do not. Shouldn't we as followers of Christ do everything in our power to share God's love? I believe we should, not just because God tells us to but because God loved us enough to save us from eternal separation from him. So go out and love your fellow man by sharing the gospel!
