For those of you who have heard of the amazing opportunity I’m taking next year, you probably have some questions. Some of you probably think I’ll disappear for nine months, totally off the map, while others may be surprised to find out that I’ll be sleeping in a sleeping bag and tent for the whole duration of my trip. So since there’s only TWO more months until I launch (OH MY LANTA!), I thought I’d give you all an explanation of what I’ll be doing in case you guys have questions!
WHAT: An incredible trip sponsored by Adventures in Missions that will take me to three different countries in nine months. This trip was originally called Passport Immersion: Gap Year because since we’re living in each country for three months, it will really give my team a chance to immerse ourselves in the culture around us. We’ll have a chance to get to know the people whose community we’re living in and be able to help them on a need basis. We could be doing anything from teaching Sunday school at the local church to praying for sick people. Whatever God wants us to do basically!
WHO: A group of around 24 college aged people (18-24) who were accepted to go on the Race with me and who have a heart for helping people and missions while loving Jesus.
WHEN: September 2014 until May 2015! Whew, nine months away from home!
WHERE: Central America, Southeast Asia, and Africa! 3 months in each place. I will find out the exact countries when I go to training camp in less than two weeks now!
WHY: I love traveling, helping people, missions, and most importantly Jesus. He’s called me to a life of foreign missions and I can’t think of a better way to kick off my life than this inspiring trip. This is what I’m supposed to be doing.
HOW: Your support! While I have been working two jobs since last summer and picked up a nannying job at the beginning of this summer, I could never make over 12k on my own. So thank you for those who have already supported me! And please continue to pray for me for the rest of this journey I’m taking!
