There are an abundance of choices that we are faced with throughout life. Which college to attend, what major do I take up, and what do I do once I finish? All of these questions lead to us making a choice.

I made the choice to attend Thiel College and double major in Criminal Justice and Sociology. After graduating this past May I was standing at a cross roads and had to make a choice.

Do I go to graduate school and continue my education or do I go on an eleven month eleven country missions trip?

After making the “pro, con, pro” list for both options, I knew that I couldn’t make the decision on my own. Both lists had the same amount of pros and cons. Each option appealed to different sides of who I am and I knew that based on that list I couldn’t make the choice without help.

I had to seek God’s will for my life.

After several weeks of praying, asking others to pray, and reading the Bible, I was still struggling to make a decision.

After speaking with my potential employer in graduate school God granted me the peace I was searching for. God used the woman I feared of disappointing and leaving without a graduate assistant to give me confirmation in my choice. I believe that God gave her the words to comfort and guide me.

“Don’t make a choice based on fear of disappointing me or someone else”.

I realized after I talked with her that it was fear of disappointing those around me that kept me from seeing God’s path for my life. Fear of giving up the comfortable and familiar life of school for an unknown missions trip around the world. Fear of leaving everything and everyone I know for eleven months. FEAR!

But, God tells us in Isaiah 41:10 ” So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”.

God helped me make the choice! So, World Race, here I come! Off into the unknown and uncomfortable.

Lord, I pray for that strength and help you promise in Isaiah to help my squad, my team, and I to honor and glorify you throughout this next year. Help us to make the choices in life that are pleasing to you. Help us not to fear but trust in you!
