Wow! This past week and a half has flown by. So many good things have happened, and I would love to tell you about them.
Painted a Mural – We were given a task to paint a mural on one of the walls in the classrooms at the church. First off, we were grateful because we love to paint. Second off, we were even more grateful because this was the classroom for the lady that has been cooking for us all month. She has loved us so well by not only cooking for us but also just being herself. I absolutely loved getting to love her back by painting this wall in the classroom for her.
Cleaned Classrooms – This week we spent a couple of days cleaning several classrooms at the church. We swept the floors and walls, as well as, wiped the walls down and mopped the floors. There is just something about sweeping and mopping that is relieving, especially when it involves changing the color of the floor by getting rid of the dust.
Children – This past week and a half has really been great because we were able to be with the children every day. Every afternoon we would go to the school and just love on the kids. We would help them with their homework, teach them English, and then just play with them. I found that my favorite thing this week was to play on the playground with the girls. I loved helping them on the monkey bars and pushing them on the swing. It brought out the universal language of a smile.
Bonfire on the Beach – For evangelism this week, we went to the beach. What an experience. I enjoyed the fire and the waves behind me as I sat on the sand and listened to worship music playing. We not only worshiped but we were all given the opportunity to share a short testimony as well. I have never experienced evangelism in the way that I have experienced here in Pacasmayo, but I am now open to all ways of sharing about the love of Christ.
Love for Pacasmayo – This month has been peaceful. Pacasmayo is a place I will never forget. This place has a small town feel which reminds me of home. I am able to walk anywhere I need to. The people that I have encountered are so loving and open to anything. There has been many instances where people have told not only myself but my team that this will always be a home for us. Not only that, but the beach is just a short 5-10 minute walk away. I will forever be grateful for the time spent here in Pacasmayo, Peru.
Much love,
Aleesa
