Listo para Christo = Ready for Christ
I am more ready for Christ then I ever have been. This coming year is going to be a lifestyle change. Training camp definitely opened my eyes to living and learning to know the Spirit that lives inside of us.
There are some quotes/quotations that I really want to explain and how God made the words in these quotes come to life for me.
The first is a quote from John Piper that says,
“Missions exists because worship does not.”
The quote that John Piper said is so true. This is why we are on mission today and everyday. This quote is why we go on missions trips or why we go to our next door neighbor or our coworker or our family members OR TO OURSELVES. We have been given a co-mission (Matthew 28:18-20) and two great commandments (Matthew 22:37-39). We are to go out as a body of believers and make disciples by loving others, all while loving the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind. I can honestly say that there are times where I do not fully worship Christ the way I have been called to, but I am striving to be more like him each and every day.
At training camp we were given a saying (well a couple actually) but the main one was,
“Ministry is life and life is ministry”
Just about everyday we heard this saying. Each and every day we are to minister to others. It could be as simple as giving someone a bottle of water, giving someone a hug, smiling at someone, or as simple has having a conversations with someone. All of this could happen on a day to day basis. That is called life. As we walk through our normal day we have the opportunity to minister. Not just when we are specifically on a “mission trip”.
We heard this saying everyday, and as we were ending training camp they encouraged us to put this into practice now; from the time we leave training camp to the time we leave for our first country. Okay, awesome! That is what my mindset should be from now on. But I thought to myself why should I just wait until I get home, maybe God will give me the opportunity in the airport for me to minister to someone. After all, God can do radical things, and I was ready to see God work.
Well the shuttle drops us off at the airport and the fun begins. And by fun, I mean, eating lunch, checking my bag, going through an incredibly long maze of a security line, and walking a couple miles to my terminal. Through all that hustle and bustle, nothing happened. So in the back of my mind, I thought, nothing was going to happen. That’s okay, I still have two months at home to allow God to work, right?
So I board my plane and I somehow manage to get yet again another middle seat between two men (This seems to happen to me quite often actually). In my experience, people on planes don’t always want to make small talk, so I just put my headphones in and started to listen to music and relax. As the flight attendants were making their rounds of snacks and drinks, I decided to get my journal out that I took notes with throughout training camp and read through it. I hadn’t gotten but 5 pages into my journal when the gentleman to my right asked me what my journal was for. So I began to explain to him that I had just finished up training for the World Race. Well the conversation didn’t end there because I got the opportunity to ask him about his life and what he believed. After an hour of listening and talking about his life and walk with Christ, I knew. I knew that God had placed this gentleman beside me because I was wanting to minister to someone and because we related to each other in our walk with Christ. So I did the only thing I knew I could do to minister and that was to pray with and for this gentleman. Because this was a Christ filled moment.
Not only did this plane ride change my life and encourage me in my walk with Christ, but it also changed and encouraged the gentleman that I got to talk with. This gentleman was blown away by my willingness to step out, and I was blown away by God allowing me to experience something so Christ filled. I will forever remember this special moment 30,000 feet in the air.
Through this whole experience I learned that God does radical things if we are just willing to be used by him and that I can make new friends through these experiences.
With all that being said, I am more ready for Christ than I ever have been. I am ready for so many Christ filled moments. I am excited for the radical things God will do in and through myself, my team, and my squad.
I would like to thank all of my supporters! You are all so encouraging already.
