TELL ABOUT SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL YOU SAW THIS WEEK.
Emma: I saw beauty in simple moments this week. I saw beauty in the first sip of tea at 7AM. I saw beauty in the way one of my team leaders, Mason, would stare with honey-sweet eyes at his wife, Emily, when she would share her thoughts with us. I saw beauty in the smiles of our English students when they finally understood the lesson. I saw beauty in the bitter cold as we huddled together to keep warm. I saw beauty on Halloween night as we talked late into the night about fears and the joys of being a team. I saw beauty in the eyes crinkled with laughter day after day. I see beauty every single day here in Ukraine. I am so so lucky.

I SAW SOME SNOW! Not like on the ground, but absolutely the largest flakes you ever did want to see! This is how it went down. We were all sitting around the dinner table, eating and laughing and doing all the evening things when our hosts comes in and casually says, “ahhhhh, Sne(Snow).” What happened next can only be described of as a low-key stampede as the eight of us practically trample each other to get outside and see the fluffy goodness! In the midst of the general chaos produced by eight excited Americans completely losing their minds, Sergei (our host) screams, “Noooo! DAWGSS!” Thank the Lord above he had said something because otherwise in about three seconds, team Humbly United would have become Humbly Devoured as the family’s two rather large guard dogs were on the prowl just beyond the door. Nevertheless, we all crowded around a nearby window to gaze out into the frosty night, taking in the fact that it was actually snowing!
Hey. You probably don’t know me, but here I go. Beauty. There’s lots of that here in Ukraine. From the people to funny enough, the food . One instance was the beauty in heat. It has gotten so much colder here in Ukraine. Like REALLY cold, but heat is a lovely thing. I have experienced heat after running in the cold outside to hurry up and get home. Heat in a burning bowl of soup to where I couldn’t even touch the bowl handles. It all sounds a little silly, but heat is quite necessary when you’re in a desperate situation of coldness. Literally feeling the touch of the warm air from inside the house overflow into me, was beautiful. A moment to where I felt relaxed and at ease. A moment to where I realized, “You know what, I take heat for granted all too much.” Heat is beauty. Try experiencing it for yourself.

Ukraine is filled with so many beautiful people, and the Lord fills our days here with many beautiful moments. the one that sticks out from this week was when I got to straight up share the gospel in the university we were teaching at. when we walked into the class, I was really intimidated because it was a room of 20 eighteen year old boys. so we split into groups of 4, and we actually had a really good and fluid conversation. they spoke English well, and we were able to cover a variety of topics. One of the boys asked me what I wanted to do as a career. I told him I probably wanted to do ministry and maybe go to seminary, and he straight up said, “tell me about your religion. ” HEYO!!!!! I got so excited and was able to walk him through the gospel and who Jesus is. it was one of the coolest conversations, and I was so thankful that the Lord designed the conversation so perfectly so that His love could be spoken of. it was beautiful.

A beautiful thing I saw this week was relationships we have made here in Ukraine with the people. and how we have gotten closer to them and shared the gospel with them. and they have been open and interested-(Jacob pourroy)
the most beautiful thing I have seen this week is, drum roll please joy. WHAT?? Honestly I don’t even fully know what I mean. But I have seen just such beautiful joy in everything we do whether it’s walking to the bus/ministry or eating soup for the 34th time this month. there is such a beautiful joy everywhere we go and I am absolutely so proud to be part of it.
