Hoped for the best, prepared for the worst, and in the end… there were no regrets.

The week leading into training camp, both fear and excitement stirred in me. I had no idea what to expect. I was simply advised to be open to anything (whatever that meant). Without a doubt, however, I knew that God had called me and had brought me this far for a reason. So as I flew 13 hours from Hawaii to Georgia, all I could do was hope for the best.

Upon arrival in Gainesville, GA (Adventures in Missions headquarters), we were told that we weren’t going to be given an itinerary. I didn’t mind it at first, but the following morning when we were instructed to be packed & ready by 7am, our first group activity was to hike with ALL our belongings. I braced myself for the worst after that because I knew things were about to get real. My manini (small) expectations were erased and one week suddenly felt like one month! There were times I thought to myself, “What in the world did I just get myself into?”

By the end of the week, I was completely exhausted and rejuvenated at the same time. Training camp was nothing I expected it to be and yet, EVERYTHING that I needed. We experienced bucket showers, interesting sleeping arrangements, cultural foods, and exercises that made it feel like bootcamp. I also experienced the Holy Spirit in new ways.. whether through the awesome worship, the hard-packed lessons from Dr. Ron Walborn, relationship building activities, people speaking a word into my life, or times He had asked me to be “vulnerable”..

If I could sum up Training Camp in 11 words it would be this… God was unpredictable in His activity, but predictable in His character!

I hold fast onto God’s promises & believe truly that “He will never leave me nor forsake me”.. although the details of the next season of my life is still uncertain, I can be confident in the One who holds my tomorrows.

Mahalo to all who prayed for me while I was away! As excited as I am to start my journey around the world, I’m happy to spend my last month at home with friends and family. Please continue to be in prayer for me:)
