Flying Lessons…
I took a walk down the beach to be alone with Jesus. Taking
my hand He led me down the beach, pointing out the beauty of His Father’s
craftsmanship… The whole time my heart swelled, soaking up every word spoken to
me. We reached this huge section of rocks. Climbing up, we just sat and enjoyed
being together. My heart was so full that as we climbed down to go back we had
a flying lesson.
You see, there was this rock towards the bottom that stood
about 4 maybe 5 feet off the sand. He flew down and then turned to help me
down. “Can I fly too?” I asked.
“If you have Faith the size of a mustard seed… and you know
that in Me you can do all things…” He replied with a smile.
“Even Fly?”
“If you have Faith…”
I stood at the edge of the rock, my insides trembling with
delight. But then a funny thing happened… As I crouched to jump I realized that
I was about to fly…like really fly. And about mid-way through that thought and
my jump, all my humanity rushed in and fear seized the moment. I landed softly
on the sand and in His arms. He was laughing as He stepped back, His head
thrown back and laughter bubbling up from within. I couldn’t help but join in. “Beloved,
why did you fear? I had a hold of you…” He asked, still smiling, and His eyes
looking deep into mine, knowing the answer that was about to be spoken.
Laughing I simply replied, “I’m still learning what it is
to walk in this new way… to walk in the Spirit… But I still want to fly…”
