Loud music, flashing lights, girls dancing on the bars, the smell of alcohol fills the air. Any temptation you can think of is at your fingertips. Food, shopping, gambling, smoking, sex, drugs, alcohol; you name it, you can have it. Men buy women like they buy a t-shirt; whatever size, color or style they want. One street has over 200 bars, each with an average of 6 girls working the hours of 8pm-5am (or whenever the customers stop coming). One bar sells raffle tickets every night and the winner gets the girl. An entire alley is dedicated to “Lady Boys”; need I say more?
Darkness.
Sin.
Lust.
Depression.
Addiction.
Pain.
This is our battlefield.
Every other night we venture out to this street. It is war. Our mission is to befriend the women we feel God is leading us to. Treat her like a human being, not like a piece of meat to “rent.” The purpose is to build up trust to, when we feel the time is right, introduce her to the ministry we are working with this month. They offer employment, vocational training, counseling and Jesus to women who want to help themselves out of this industry.
Please, please, please keep us in your prayers! We will be going out Monday, Wednesday and Friday of next week as well as Tuesday and Thursday of the week after that from 9am-Noon EST.
My team and I have high hopes that many women’s lives will be touched through us this month and I can’t wait to share what God does while we are here!
