Wow. Training Camp went above and beyond my expectations. I learned so much, not only logistical information about this trip, but about myself. I’ve realized how selfish I am, how dormant I’ve let my worship become, how much God speaks if we only take the time to listen and how this trip could not have come at a better time in my life. I feel like there are so many things I could blog about….so bare with me as I space them out so they all make sense!
The S-Squad, my team, is amazing. I’ll just throw that out there right off the bat. Imagine 60+ young adults ready to completely abandon their comfortable lifestyles, live out of a tent and backpack for 11 months to spread the love of Jesus with a dying world. Who does that?!
There are 5 extra special people that I want you all to get to know, especially if you will be faithfully following my blog from here on out. Within the S-Squad, we are divided into smaller teams of 5-7 people. Part of the week was spent doing team building exercises and the World Race staff evaluated and prayed so much over these decisions.
I introduce to you….
lovebound
“If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Mac Mitchell
This crazy guy from Jacksonville, FL was one of the first people I talked to from the squad. He is hilarious and has such a servant’s heart. His love for God is so obvious and a little contagious. I respect and trust him with my life and can’t even imagine the stories we are going to have from spending 11 months together.
He does photography so I’m sure I will be “borrowing” a lot of his pictures to share with you guys. If you would like follow his blog,

Haile Hendricks
This Boston girl is awesome! Just by looking at her, you can tell she’s so fun…yes, I judged a book by it’s cover. ๐ She’s been all over the world already in her 25 years and has so much life experience. She’s only been a Christian for like 2 years but she carries so much wisdom, I just love talking to her! We have a secret love for “that’s what she said” comments…ok, maybe it’s not so secret, and we also had a special bonding experience on the way to the airport that I will never forget. (That may be a separate blog, after I tell my parents first…insert nervous laugh here!)
Angela Grit
Oh, Angela. I love this girl. She is the young pup of the squad, coming in at 20 years old and she’s from Michigan. There was a time that we talked every day on Facebook while she was in between college and starting work and I was just bored at work! She has a great heart. I will say, Angela is very accident prone. Please pray for her. ๐ Not really….well, kind of because at Training Camp she: busted her knee up, got a minor concussion, had motion sickness, knelt in a pile of fire ants and stepped on a candle which melted her flip flop.
I can see kids all over her. She is blonde and over 6 feet tall. We are going to have so much fun together! To follow her,

Paul Bell
I am so lucky that Paul from Arizona is on my team. First of all, he loves Jesus with everything. I love hearing him talk about God and pray…it’s inspiring. Second of all, he is not normal in such a good way! I mean, who decides to RUN “from Mexico to Canada, staying with strangers, watching God perform miracles and living completely dependent on Him for 3 months over the summer”????? What?!?! True story…you can read about it
here.
Not to mention his musical taste is superb. To follow him,

Sarah Anderson
I’ve never known anyone from Wisconsin before and I can’t wait to get to know Sarah better! She is so sweet and genuine and she makes me laugh even though I’m not sure she realizes it or even tries. ๐ I really respect her though because no one in her family is excited about her going on this journey, and she’s still going because she knows it’s what God wants.
Hopefully we can keep track of her throughout the world…she’s a wonderer! To follow her,
