MONTH 1: INDIA

My first month of the race was spent with my entire squad (about 60 young folk) in the North East corner of India, in a state called Manipur.

It was much different than I expected India to be (although curry and undecipherable smells were common).

We lived in a predominantly Christian village with a small town feel. Where we worked with seminary students, helped to build churches and dormitories as well as helping out at the local hospital.

The standout ministry of my first month was working at medical camps!

We were able to pray for and help a variety of people from all over Northeastern India.

I miss our cute neighbor girls, Deborah and Grace, and drinking way too much chai tea.

The Lord taught me that he wants true joy and peace for me.

I imagined life on the race would be all work and no play, all challenge and no rest, all learning, constant striving and hardcore discipleship. However, this was far from my experience in India.

There was joy, rest, laughter, new friendships, more rest, morning quiet times and so much peace from the Lord.
