I love to worship! What is worship you may ask? For those of you not familiar it’s not simply singing “Christian” songs. Worship is not about singing our favorite or even the songs that give us a certain feeling, but rather it is elevate God above all else regardless of the song selection. To worship is to make Him higher than any of our thoughts or worries and simply acknowledge and thank Him for who He is! One of the ways we do this is by singing songs of praise and worship. I absolutely love listening to and singing worship songs not just at church on Sundays but every day, any time, anywhere!
Confession: Okay so I have to admit that sometimes after singing the same song(s) over and over at church, it can become monotonous and I can forget the meaning behind the words I’m singing. Can you relate? Or is it just me?
Anyhow, I was at church yesterday morning and as I was worshiping God with a song I’ve sang many times; the lyrics’ suddenly became vivid in my life. I was rejoicing in their meaning and felt a prompting from the Holy spirit to share.
The song was “Grateful” by Elevation Worship and I just want to highlight and share some of the lines that really spoke to me yesterday.
“When I was down, You brought me out. You set my feet, on higher ground”
We’ve all been down, and I know that I’ve personally found myself in some really low places. Some because of my own choices and some due to the choices of others or circumstances outside of my control. Regardless of the matter, HE has brought me out, EVERY SINGLE TIME! He has truly set my feet on higher ground! He has set my feet on the rock that is Jesus. I know that no matter what happens in life, the foundation upon which I stand is firm!
Today I feel like I’m standing on a mountaintop (as life is going amazing) compared to the times when I’ve been in and felt like I was in the lowest of valleys. I am not naive and am aware that struggles and down seasons will come again (as is normal in life). However, my prayer is to always stay grounded in the fact that regardless of what life brings, my feet are ALWAYS set on higher ground.
“I give thanks, for all You have done. And I will sing, of Your mercy and Your love. Your love is unfailing. Lord, I am grateful”
I am so thankful for all that God has done in my life! I may not know what the holds but I know the plans He has for me are to prosper me and give me a hope and a future. The enemy has tried to trip me up and take me down but the Lord has rescued me time and time again. He’s taken EVERYTHING the devil has meant for evil and turned it around for GOOD! This line is what compelled me to thank the Lord publicly and write this blog to simply share about His mercy, grace, and love. Who am I to deserve this unfailing love? No one. I’m not special. I’m a sinner just like you. But, God! and His unfailing love is desperate for us and for that I am grateful!
“I give thanks, for all You have done. I won’t forget, all the battles You have won. Your love is unfailing. Lord, I am grateful!”
These lines are a constant reminder to ALWAYS give thanks for ALL He has done in the past and will do in the future! It is also a call to REMEMBER; to not forget all the battles He has helped me overcome. Sometimes when life is good, as mine is right now, we tend to forget the places that Christ has brought us out of. But I don’t want to forget, I want to live with a heart of constant gratitude towards my Heavenly Father. His love NEVER fails and for that I am grateful.
“And as we lift our hands up The heavens open, heavens open! So let our lives declare the love Our God has spoken over us”
Finally, I don’t know if you think this is weird or not but I don’t really care. I love lifting my hands during worship; both as a sign of surrender and of praise. I believe God sees our hands lifted to Him and that He opens the gates of heaven and pours His blessings over us! And my greatest prayer is that my life would be a constant declaration of His love for me and for you! I am currently praying and believing God for BIG miracles! Please join me in asking Him to open up the Heavens and do what only He can!
And in the waiting my desire is that we would constantly declare His love over us and share it with those around us.
If you want to know more about my God and what He’s done in my life, just shoot me a message! I would gladly love to share more and answer any faith questions you may have. The same love and mercy He gives me every day is available to you and I would be honored to help you find a relationship with Him!
My cup is so full! Thank you Jesus! Hope you enjoy the song!
