In my previous blog post, I mentioned that my team and I go door to door evangelizing each afternoon for several hours. Some days we meet with just one person or family, and other days we meet with several different households. The stories and testimonies we hear are hard, and we rely heavily on the Holy Spirit to guide us in evangelizing each day.
After the first several days of evangelizing, I came to see a great need that I could help fulfill — giving these individuals or families a Bible. We spend an hour or so talking to them about Jesus Christ and how he died on a cross for our sins, yet many of them do not have or own their own Bibles and want to know more about the Jesus we talk about.
This need is what prompted me to ask our translator, Moses, if we could buy Bibles in the Kinyarwanda language to give to these people. So that's what I did. I gave Moses enough money to buy 7 Bibles in Kinyarwanda. (Kinyarwanda is the native language spoken here in Rwanda.)
The past 2 days of evangelizing have been awesome because giving an individual or a family a bible is like nothing else I have ever experienced before — the joy, happiness and indescribable appreciation for a gift like this is something I wish all of you could experience. The people who I gave bibles to had an immediate smile on their face and they couldn't stop hugging me. I could literally feel the joy of Jesus and the Holy Spirit in them!
Buying Bibles in the Kinyarwanda language is a need that you, too, can help fulfill! Bibles here cost 5,000 Rwandan francs, or $8 USD each. I was able to buy 7 of them with my own money and give them away to families whom we visited during the first week.
I would like to challenge all of you to help me raise enough money to buy at least 50 Bibles for the Rwandans this month. To do this, I will need to raise $400 USD.
Will you please prayerfully consider helping me? I challenge you to skip getting Starbucks one morning or eating out for lunch one day to save money to buy a Bible for a Rwandan instead. It is literally a gift that will keep on giving and will bring so much more satisfaction than that half burned Caramel Macchiato or a greasy burger and fries.
The best and easiest way to get money to me is via PayPal. My PayPal email address is [email protected]. Please be sure to send the money as a GIFT and write in the comments section that it is for bibles.
If you do not have a PayPal account and you want to donate to this cause, please comment below or email me so we can figure out an alternative option.
Thank you all so much!
Love,
Aimee
