For the next few weeks, my team and I will be staying at La Ola, a hostel located about a mile from the beach in the city of Jaco, Costa Rica ("La Ola" is Spanish for "the wave"). La Ola is formerly known as Christian Surfers, but we are not working with any local surfers as I might have led some of you to believe prior to me going on the Race.

There is a house and an apartment here at La Ola, and April, our ministry contact, rents out the beds and the house as a means to make some revenue for La Ola. April is from Iowa, and she first came to La Ola about 3 years ago when she felt the Lord calling her here. La Ola serves the purpose of being a meeting spot for a local youth group and a place for Thursday night bible studies.

Our ministry this month is two fold. We are taking care of the grounds here at La Ola to help April out, and we are reaching out to the local street kids here in Jaco by playing with them in the neighborhood park and inviting to them skate ramp here at La Ola. My team and I don't know very much Spanish, but we are having fun interacting with the kids. They absolutely love to take pictures on our cameras and they get so much joy out of playing our guitar and djembe drum.

I will try to post some photos and more stories about our ministry progress as the days go on, so stay tuned!
