I think it's safe to say that every World Racer who is about to embark on an 11 month long journey is a little bit freaked out and intimidated by packing for the race. I have spent months preparing for the race, buying the things I need (backpack, tent, sleeping bag, clothes, and even tons of underwear), and yet I still was intimidated by fitting everything in to one backpack for an entire year.
I was up until 1 a.m. this morning packing and re-packing it all. I even took some pictures for you all to see what I am bringing with me. (I also took them because I want to look at this post a year from now and potentially laugh at my lack of World Race packing knowledge.)
So, without further adieu, here is a somewhat comprehensive look at what all I am taking with me on the race. (Disclaimer: I was up late taking these photos, so I did forget to take photos of everything I am bringing with me.)
A dress, 3 t-shirts (one of which is the required M Squad wolf tee for wolf-tee-Wednesdays), and one long sleeve tee.
3 jorunals, an ESV bible, 2 daily devotionals (thanks for buying these for me, mom!), a "Know Your Bible" book, and some pens and colored pencils.
Makeup for a year: powder, cover up, tweezers, eye lash curler, mascara, makeup brushes, eyeliner and two perfumes. (Not pictured: a tube of red lipstick.)
Medicine. There is a lot of it. A year's supply of Malaria pills and my anti-depressants, Cipro (a prescription antibiotic for emergencies), prescription anti-itch cream for bug bites, prescription ointment for nasty cuts/wounds, band aids and neosporin, tons of Pepto Bismol, Ibuprofen, allergy pills, laxatives, Imodium, acid reducers, Dramamine, AZO and Monistat. Hopefully I won't need this all, but I like to be prepared!
Nail polish, nail clippers, a nail file, a cuticle cutter, a pumice stone and acetone.
A pair of jeans, leggings, 3 pairs of running shorts, and most importantly – my sweat pants. I love these things!
The only 3 pairs of shoes I am bringing with me.
Sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner, Eno hammock, Eno slap straps, and an Eno clothes line thingy, a blow up air pillow. (Not pictured: my sleeping pad.)
Two swimsuits and a quick dry towel.
4 tank tops.
Extra tooth brush, extra razors, Diva cup and Diva wash, 3 extra Strawberry chapsticks, extra deodorant.
Toothpaste, contact solution, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, makeup remover, glasses, hair brush, floss, eye glass cleaner, Q-tips, mirror, baby powder, face lotion, tooth brush, and a loofa. (To my sister and mom: "Use the loofa! Loofa! Loofa! Loofa!)
Ok, I think that's the majority of it all. I have a few other things I am bringing too, but I was too lazy to take a picture and document it all since it was 1 a.m. when I took these photos. I hope this gives you all some insight as to what all I am bringing with me on the race!
