The next day…
The pastor asked us to do door to door again. On our way, we
decided to stop by and see Agnes. When we went inside (her aunt’s house), she
told us that when she tried to read the Bible we had given her the night
before, the demons went back inside of her and she couldn’t read. She asked us
to pray for her.
We all gathered around and started praying. A few moments
later, the manifestations began. We prayed for her and cast out demons for
about an hour before she came back. Meanwhile, several neighbors had heard her
screams and were gathered in the house. They told Joyce that they had heard her
crying out all night in her room. Also, during the time, Joyce told us that the
demons had screamed for Selena because the same ones lived inside of her.
We decided to take her and her friend Selena (who also works
with Agnes) back to the church to pray further. When we got there we talked to
Selena for a bit and she decided that she wanted to accept Christ as well. She
knelt down and started repeating Joyce’s prayer for salvation and suddenly the
demons inside of her started going crazy. We prayed again and cast out demons
for nearly two hours. Selena’s strength was absolutely supernatural. She was
thrashing about and hitting her head on the ground and it took my entire team
(including two huge dudes) to hold her down from hurting herself and us. At one
point I got punched in the head and a few other times she grabbed onto my
clothing so tightly and pulled me in so that I couldn’t move away. It took two
people to try to pry her hands off of me (her grip was so tight). At certain
times when we would be casting demons out of her she would purse her lips and
shake her head. She would scream and moan at the top of her lungs and even
scream “No.” She was sweating all over and near the end she even started
crying. Each time we thought she was back, we would call to her and she
wouldn’t respond. Her eyes would roll around in her head and she would start
thrashing and screaming anew. Finally after what seemed like hours, she came
back. She sat up, responded to her name, and we prayed for her again. We walked
her home and she told us that she wanted to prepare herself so that she could
come back to the evening session at church.
Agnes came to the evening session, but Selena never made it.
She sat with my during the service where Janee preached about 5 prisons that we
put ourselves into and can be trapped in: Comparison, Regret, Bitterness,
Excuse, and Withdrawal. Afterwards the congregation broke up into the groups
that they wanted to pray in (for the 5 prisons) and Agnes and I went to pray
with one of the groups. As the voices in the church rose and everyone began to
pray, Agnes’ manifestations began again. For the next 2 hours, we gathered
around her again, but with the help of several church members this time.
Sometimes the demons would cry out, “We love Agnes” over and over again. Other
times they would laugh a sinister laugh and smile creepily. Finally when Agnes
came back around, the church members all sat down with her to work through some
things. Agnes prayed and let go of an unhealthy relationship of dependence on
Selena and we learned that she had gone to a witch doctor and drank some kind
of a potion to get back with her ex-husband. Afterwards, we walked her back to
her single room where she lived to pray over her dwelling place. As we prayed,
more demon manifestations began. Over the next several house, we tried all
kinds of things to get rid of the demons. She screamed and pointed around the
room and shouted as she saw the demons. It was crazy how you could tell when it
wasn’t Agnes. We would say “Agnes, how are you?” and she would respond, “We are
fine” or “We are tired, go away.” They kept telling us that they would never
leave her so we should give up. After a bit they started screaming to go get
Selena because they wanted to go into her. A few minutes later we even heard
someone knocking on the door, but we didn’t dare open it.
At times we started getting discouraged because Agnes wasn’t
coming back. There was no way we were going to leave her though, until she came
to and everything was out. Finally, at about 9:30 pm, she came back. She sat up
and proclaimed that Jesus Christ is Lord of her life and prayed with us. She
joyfully hugged every one of us and said that she felt at peace.
We finally left and walked home for dinner. We were all
completely exhausted and spent from the day. Overall we did almost 8 hours of “exorcism”-
and I’m pretty sure we will have to do more with Selena soon…
Please pray for our new friends as they continue to be freed
and as they seek God. They so earnestly desire to follow Him and flee from
darkness. Its so cool to see such genuine desire for a new life and the
willingness to give up the things that are holding them back.
