Well…I figured I could’t stay away for long. I’ve only been home about 5 months, but its official: I’m moving back to Thailand!

It has been an eventful journey since I decided to move back to the USA last year. During my “farewell tour” of Thailand and Burma last fall, I met an amazing man named Adam Wallis. He was a new FBR volunteer that quickly worked his way up to leadership in our organization. We started dating in the September and were able to experience the joys of field work in Burma together. After fall field training, we were able to spend a short time in Thailand together before I moved back to the USA. I was really confused and sad about my departure, wondering if I was making the right decision, but felt like God had a plan. After a few months, Adam (who is from Alaska), decided to make the big gesture and moved to California to see where our relationship would go. After a few months, he proposed, I said “yes,” and we have begun the crazy process of planning a wedding in 4 months!

(Adam and I last year, working in the jungle)

The plan:

We are getting married in August and two weeks later are moving back to Thailand. We are planning to stay for about 2 years, but willing to do whatever God has for us.

I was previously in Thailand for a total of 2 years, and Adam, 10 months. I speak Thai fairly well at this point and Adam has taken a beginner’s course. We both have studied conversational Burmese as well and will continue studying in the fall.

For the first three months after we are married we will be living in the jungle, facilitating an ethnic relief team training. He is in charge of coordinating the training of about 60 ethnic volunteers and teaching several subjects. I will be developing an English program for staff and advanced students along with training teams to facilitate VBS-like programs for children (songs, games, skits, spiritual messages, etc).

We are so excited to return, see all of our beloved friends, and get back to work!! You have all been such amazing supporters and encouragers in the past and we can’t go on this journey without you.

Please consider joining our pray team and/or financially supporting us as we return to the field. We are trying to raise about $2,000 per month for living expenses, visas, field supplies, language training, etc. To support us financially, please visit http://simplykingdom.org/aimee-dhondt/

We are leaving September 1st and trusting that the Lord will provide. Please contact me if you would like to know more about our work in Thailand/ Burma, or if you would like to set up a meeting with us.

Much love, Aimee and Adam
