New Jerusalem and the Refuge are two children’s homes I have been working with in Mae Sot. Being involved with these kids has been so much fun and brings me so much life! I have been busy planning an English curriculum for both homes and teach English four times a week. It’s a pretty busy schedule around here, but these kids are amazing. We do sports days on Saturdays with both groups and church at both homes on Sundays. One of the things I have really enjoyed is teaching baking at the Refuge as well. The house mom and a few of the older girls are wanting to learn so that they can bake treats to sell at our ministry’s restaurant. It has been fun involving the Refuge kids with our Art class too. Since the kids are out of school right now (summer) we’ve been able to do extra activities with them such as pool parties! For some of the kids it was their first time ever swimming in a pool!
All the kids are refugees from Burma who have had to come to Thailand for various reasons. Some have families and some do not, but all are SO loved!!!
