And the rain continued…

We went on a wild house hunt that was so discouraging at
first (couldn’t find anything in our budget that would work or that we had a
peace about), but ended in a house that is so wonderful, we could never have
dreamed we could rent something like it! In fact, it was a “fluke” that we even
went to see it. Our real estate agent said he had found a place near his office
and wanted us to check it out just in case, even though it was over budget and
it wasn’t on our “go to” list.

We ended up going to look at the furniture in
another house on the property, because we needed twin beds, and the landlord
mentioned that the house next door was for rent. We thought it would be fun to
just go look at it, even though there was no way we could rent it. We started
taking pictures of it for some friends who are moving here (just in case), and
the landlord said if we knew anyone who would want to move in, she would drop
the rent $170.

The house has a large master bedroom and then a smaller
single bedroom. Amy and I did the math and realized that we could afford to
live in this amazing home if we added a third roommate and shared the master!
We called a girl we had met at an orientation to Chiang Mai, who is also a
believer, and invited her to come check out the place. Long story short, we
moved in the next day J
Debbie just moved in last night, and we are having fun getting to know her.

(Turns out another reason it is so cheap is because it is
right by the Air Force base/ Airport and the planes are really loud. We decided
it was a good trade off.)

Our landlords are incredible as well! They have already
adopted us J.
They have been so helpful setting up our utilities and going above and beyond
to prepare the house and make sure every question we have is answered.
Yesterday Amy and I were going to take a “red truck” (public transportation) to
check out a Thai school a bit far from out house and on the edge of the city.
When they found out, they insisted on driving us there themselves and going in
to speak with the teachers.

After the first visit, they proceeded to tell us that the school was
too far and they wanted us to see all the schools close to our house. They took
us to one and waited about a half hour, then drove us all around the
neighborhood and pointed out 3 others! What a blessing for us J The woman (“Eat”) says
that she has two daughters and if they arrived by themselves in a foreign
country, she would hope that someone would help them too.

Every time we think things can’t get any better, Amy and I
receive even more blessings! It is such an awesome confirmation for us that we
are right where God wants us. Just as I was typing this, our landlord came over
and gave us three large umbrellas to use when we go out today because it is
raining so hard! Come on!!

Thank you all so much for your prayers and your notes. I
absolutely love it here and can’t wait to continue settling in and getting
involved with all the different ministries. Speaking of, we start at FBR
today!! Thai class will hopefully start Monday… and bar ministry will hopefully
start next week (Amy and I are still getting comfortable driving our bike and
its difficult to get around until then).

Much love, Aimee

Side note: If anyone wants to text or call me, my old phone
number is hooked up to skype (no long distance). Just give me a shout in the
morning or evening and if I am connected to wifi (as I often am during those
times), I can respond to you!
