Once again I find myself at the airport. Ten days and even more memories. Leading my team during our week in Haiti was an incredible experience. Watching everyone learn, grow, and step out of their comfort zones was amazing.  When you think of a week, it seems like such a short time…but long enough to fall in love with 16 new “blancs” and “un pil” of Haitaians 🙂 As it seems to happen when I travel, a piece of my heart will be left here and each teammate carries a peace of it home with them as well.

I am so proud of my team and how they allowed God to move and direct them this week. They were faithful to show the love of Christ through each prayer walk, VBS program, and orphanage visit. I loved watching the team listen to the Lord and be directed to take part in their “ATL” (Ask the Lord) outings as well. One group spent time with the neighborhood children, another bought soccer balls and gave them out in the community, and yet another took baby formula to a tent city. Planning ministry opportunities is good, but when God takes over and plans it himself it is so so sweet.

It is beautiful to see a continual revival taking place in Haiti. The earth was not the only thing shaken in January 2010. The spiritual atmosphere was changed as well. After visiting houses and tents in the community to pray for the families, the neighbors would run out of their houses to make sure that we didn’t leave without praying for them as well! What a switch from the Voodoo saturated culture that we have always heard about!

Pray for Haiti and the hearts of those who have yet to find the hope in Jesus. Pray for the country as they continue to rebuild and fight corruption.

Pray for the woman who wanders the street with her two small children…hungry, with nowhere to go. We will never forget.
