Well, I have officially been living in Guatemala for 44 days. It feels like way more. The life of an English teacher to thirty-three 4 and 5 year olds who speak no English is quite interesting. I spend all of my day with the pre-k and kinder classes helping the teacher with whatever she needs. My Spanish has improved tremendously, mainly because my students don’t understand any English therefore I’m forced to speak Spanish. When I’m not teaching I am spending my time with the neighborhood kids, doing my school work, or hanging out with friends.
Over the past month I have kind of forgotten that I’m doing the world race. Im constantly busy and I guess not being in the states I don’t have the reminder that I’m going out of the country because I’m already out. In the last week the realization hit me, I have 7 months left at home, I still need to buy all my race supplies, plane tickets for training camp and launch, and most importantly have to raise $15,800. I looked at my mom the other day and told her “well, I guess I better get on that fundraising!”
On that note, first I want to say thank you to everyone who has given to me so far! It means so much. Every time I see an email showing someone gave or get a donation in the mail I get so happy!
I have a new fundraiser called “Adopt a Box.” Maybe you have heard of it? Basically there are a number of boxes to choose from. Whatever number you chose you donate the amount that number is. Example, you choose box #20 then you pay $20 or if the amount you want to donate is taken then choose the numbers that add up to the price you feel led to give. If every box gets “adopted” then I will have raised the amount I need for the race! I know we can do this! If you feel led to support me please click the link below and fill out the form! https://www.adoptabox.co/campaigns/5a1f1a46877c6e0400c4dccf
Thank you again for all your help and support!
