Empty rooms, nothing on the walls, the floor is cold and bare. Three small thin mattresses as beds and that is all. Its cold, no heater to get warm. Its dark, only the sunlight that is peeking through the windows bring light inside. Barely any food to eat, no stove, no refrigerator and only a small propane heater to heat what little food they have. No money for rent and the weight of hopelessness is sinking in.
A single mother, with three children. A baby who is only 3 weeks old, a 2 year old boy, and a 5 year old girl. The husband left his wife for another woman, with no intention on taking care of his children; completely abandoning his wife and three kids with nothing. No help from her parents or the government. They are Syrians, some people call them refugees, but they are humans too. They were forced out of their homes and from their family because of the war, and now they face the hard realities of their situation. They would work but they can’t, unless its under the table and even then they are in danger of being caught and sent back to Syria. Living in the camp is not a possible option for a single mother and three children, its too dangerous. So what do you do?
Tears fall from my eyes as I hear this beautiful woman share her story. Not knowing what to do, how to provide for her children, she feels hopeless. What do you say? I sat there, my heart beating so fast and desperately wanting God to correct this situation right now! All I could do in the moment was to love on her and her children the best way I knew how, to bring the hope of Jesus through compassion and now pray for her needs to be met; even that didn’t feel like enough but I know that our God is enough and He is able to do more than we can even ask for. Please understand that these people were forced into a problem that was beyond their control and now the only one who can truly fix this is God himself. God is using people to provide in miraculous ways here, there is no doubt about that and is showing himself to so many. Many have came to know His son through this war, which is a beautiful thing! But I desperately want to see the war end and for Syria to be rebuilt. For the Syrian people to be able to go back to their homeland with a experience of Christ that they didn’t have before. For the families to be united once again, and for them to trust right now in this moment that God is going to provide all their needs.
Will you please join my team and I as we audaciously pray and intercede for the Syrian people? They need us, we are their family. Please also pray for the mother of these children that God would provide all of her needs, by the end of today!
