Ok so I would love to talk about all the wonderful animals I saw on our safari-can’t. We take the day to go to a national park (which is apparently where they keep all the animals now so they don’t eat all the crops that are peoples livelihoods that are anywhere and everywhere available..) We are told it’s a 2.5 hour drive to Mount Elgon, so we pile in make the trek and little do we know its probably the longest day of our lives. Words of wisdom, don’t go to a national park with a packed out rav4ish car on a rainy day.
Thank you Jesus that we are alive. Thank you Jesus that the car is not totaled. Thank you Jesus that there is still an axle. Thank you Jesus that nobody punched anyone in the face.
We saw monkeys-which we have seen already. We saw some antelopey things which were cool but then we got stuck. Then we almost lost the clutch. Then we thought we would die probably three or four times. We did hike up to a cave which was beautiful and awesome but cant say it was worth it. Then we go to the nearest town to get the car fixed because we broke it, so the other 30 km of the road we missed. Which means all the cool animals. So then we take even more detours on the way home and it turns into a 6 hour drive home. No one was a happy camper when we got home. Roads here aren’t like roads there. It was stressful to say the least.
