So I have this friend who prefers my hand over all the other mzungus. The first time he/she sat in my lap he/she had peed his/her pants so I had him/her sit on the corner of my lap instead of being fully committed to the lap. The next couple times I did the smell check which you usually don’t have to get that close to tell. More often than not when he/she runs up to me on the road he/she has been crying and there are permanent snot lines on his/her face due to excessive snotting. The other sister is normally not far behind but more out of respect to the little one.
I will say that out of all the kids that run up and are daily excited to see us, my he/she friend would not be my first choice favorite..probably more so because I don’t like rotting pee. But I will say that I am beginning to look for the attention and it makes me feel special that I’m the favorite. I have yet to see him/her naked which is borderline unusual, so I have yet to know what he/she is.
So come to find out my he/she friend I will call Omega because that’s what they call her. She has now become the favorite among most of the mzungus and no longer favors me over all. She is adorable and loves to run up to all of us. When she shows up on Sunday in her Sunday best, her dress with sneakers is absolutely precious. She gets more attention than the others.
