Hey Everyone!
My name is Adam Hickerson, and welcome to my personal World Race page. I’m 24 years old and the son of two loving parents and a brother to a younger sister. I grew up in a Christian home where my family has loved me unconditionally and supported me in everything I have been involved in.
I was born in Zanesville, Ohio and grew up in small town Northwest of Dayton called Greenville. After high school I attended Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. There I majored in Business Administration with a concentration in Professional Golf Management to become a PGA Professional. Methodist provided me tremendous internship opportunities at Lake Winnipesaukee Golf Club, The Apawamis Club, and Aspen Golf Club. Additionally, I was involved with the MU Chorale which gave me the chance to travel domestically and abroad and continue with another passion of mine, music. In my free time I enjoy travelling, golf, ultimate frisbee, hiking and spending time with friends and family.
Mission work has been something I have been passionate about since my first mission trip to Sutton, Alaska the summer after my senior year of high school. There we did anything from chopping wood and moving rocks, to helping build homes and talking with people who had never heard the name of Jesus. This was the first time I felt that God may be calling me to something in the missions field. The past four years I have had the opportunity to study abroad in Guatemala and my favorite thing our group would get to do was always the service projects. Fast forward to a few months ago when I first heard of The World Race through a friend from college. I was talking with her about how I was feeling that I wasn’t completely living for Christ and what he was calling me to do. That’s when she mentioned The World Race and sent me the link to their “More than a Mission Trip” video. After watching the video, I immediately had a feeling that I was supposed to do go. After speaking with family, friends and mentors, and A LOT of prayer I believe The World Race is something God is calling me to do.
My hope for The World Race is that the Lord will allow us to help the poor, sick, hurt and make a lasting impact on those people we come in contact with in countries where they may have never heard the name of Jesus. I hope that my squad and I are able to love as Jesus loved, and all take our relationships with the Lord to a whole new level.
Please continue to keep my squad and I in your prayers as we prepare for the journey ahead!
God Bless,
Adam Hickerson
