One of my favorite world race blogs of all time is Leah Malone’s “These people are crazy”. If you haven’t had a chance to read it please check it out before you continue reading here. Click HERE.
Leah’s blog was one of those blogs that really touched me! It stirred me! It painted a picture of something more. There is almost something romantic about it. The “crazy” people this blog sound almost desirable; you want to be them, or at least know them. You can almost hear the passion in their voices as they talk. With almost 4000 views and 250 Facebook likes there are many people who feel just like I do about this blog.
But I think there is a problem. The Problem is not with Leah and her blog! I think God has used this blog in a mighty way with past racers and will continue to use it with future racers. The problem I’m talking about is a problem with my heart and more specifically a problem in my perspective.
In Leah’s blog she talked about how these “crazy” people prayed; how when they talked to God they really believed they were talking to a God who not only could hear them but a God that did/does hear us. But not only does he hear us but also he cares about our dreams and us! She talks about these "crazy” people and how they dream of wiping every form of injustice clean off the face of the planet because our Dad hates injustice even more than we do!! She talks about how these “crazy” people serve, pray, and worship! After readying Leahs blog I had no doubt that these people were “crazy” and I wanted to be “crazy” too! But there’s the problem.
What if they’re not “crazy”?
Could my perspective be that off?
Could these “crazy” people who believe in prayer, service, worship and the fact that God hates injustice actually be the normal people?
Some how after 10 years in Church my heart still looks at these people in a "crazy" way. After reading the bible faithful for years and knowing what it teaches my heart still see's "crazy"! Well I hope and pray those days are behind me. I had God stretch my world view in a huge way this past week at training camp!
For me “Crazy” is the new Normal! I don’t want to be crazy. I want to be normal! Normal like John, James, and Peter. Normal like Paul and Timothy! And normal like Jesus!
The world race for me is going to be a 11 month training in what the Normal rest of my life is going to look like, I CAN'T WAIT TO BE NORMAL!
