Hey everyone sorry that I have not been keeping up on the blogging. I have been going through quite a few things here. I do not know how many of you know this but I lost two really good friends on Dec. 30th and it has been a hard go since that time.
I started the very first day of this year carrying my friend Kirk to the plane back to Canada. It was an honour and it was a chance to say goodbye but it was still very hard. I have been in a country where life is cheap and happiness is not the norm. Though it has been a hard few months I have had some good times as well. Lots of laughter with my team mates, as well as my vacation to Thailand and Cambodia, to work with a couple of ministries there.
The main thing that I have learned here is that we never know when life will end. Since this is the case then we as Christians need to live our lives every single day with a goal to become more like Christ. As well we need to be that light not just in our words but in our deeds. The Bible says that the times will continue to get darker and we need to be the light that shines out in that darkness.
A few years ago I was on vacation in Peru and our guide took us on a night walk through the Amazon. As we got a certain distance away from the lodge we were told to turn off all of our lights. You can not imagine the darkness unless you witness it. You could not see your hand right in front of you. The interesting thing is when you looked back towards the lodge you could still see the light through the trees. When you think that your walk and your light does not matter think again. There are people out there who may just need to have the lights turned out before they look for you and when they do, God will be there waiting for them. He is always waiting and that is so amazing.
I would like to close with some prayer requests if that’s alright. First thing is that I am starting to feel a bit of worry because I still have nothing in my race account. I have not been at home and so it is hard to fund raise right at this moment. I need prayer for not only the funds to start coming in but also that I would not doubt God or fear that the funds won’t be there.
Second is that there would be opportunities to be a witness to people as they have their lights turned off.
The last thing that I pray for is protection over me and all of those who are here serving. Thanks and God bless
