I was born in Greensboro, NC on June 6, 1987, but after living there for only a short time, I have lived in Indiana for most of my life. My dad was a youth pastor while I was growing up and became the senior pastor of a church in Columbus, Indiana when I was about 7 or 8. Needless to say, I have grown up in the church. Throughout high school, I was really involved in my youth group and church, but never really took my relationship with Christ seriously. I was definitely a slave to sin and I didn’t know my Savior very intimately at all.
I went to Asbury College as a freshman in the fall of 2005, and it has been one of the best decisions of my life. I have grown so much. At the beginning of my sophomore year, I took a macroeconomics class and fell in love with the discipline of economics. Asbury does not have an econ major, so I became a business major with an econ minor. Through several of my economics courses during the following years, I really had my heart broken for the poor. It was during these years that I really felt called to the field of international development.
In the process of exploring grad school options, I discovered the World Race. Long story short, God said “go” and I said “no”. He finally got through and I left on the Race on August 9th, 2009. I got back in the summer of 2010 totally wrecked. In the aftermath, I became the director of High School Ministry at my church in Indiana and absolutely loved my season there for a year and a half before returning to AIM to work as an apprentice. I’m still sorting out what God did on the Race and am still becoming who He created me to be.
I love soccer, music, IBC cream soda, traveling, Jesus, and having tons of inside jokes with all kinds of different people.
