You know when you smell a sweet smell or taste something that tastes so good it’s like you can’t get enough of it? One more bite or one more whiff. You want more and more and more.

This is how I’ve felt in my first week in Cambodia.

As I stand on the rooftop of the Overflow Guest House we’re staying at, I feel an overwhelming sense of peace. Cambodia has a very still feel to it. I try to take in all the beautiful landscape around me. The guest house is surrounded by fields of lotus flowers and lily pads. Beyond the flower fields are multitudes of colorful houses. Amidst the brightly colored Cambodian homes are forest green trees and light green grass. The sky is a pale purple withpeaks of blue through the clouds. Dogs and roosters are the only alarm clocks while the birds sing a beautiful morning song.

The air carries a distant ocean breeze. It has a sweet, salty smell. The kind you can’t breathe in enough.

I watch as the Cambodian people start their day. Feeding the animals, preparing their children for school, loading the family onto the motorbike or tuk tuk and venturing out on their daily trek through the muddy roads.

This is normal. This is everyday. Do they even know how blessed they are? I suppose God has given me the opportunity to tell them. I couldn’t be happier to do so. Because I can’t get enough of this gorgeous country. But honestly, it’s the creator of this gorgeous country I can’t get enough of.
