Medellín, Colombia is..

Medellín, Colombia is and will be my home for month three on the race

Medellín, Colombia is a place full of activity, things to do, busy streets, shops, GREAT coffee, art, history, parks, and people

Medellín, Colombia is a place that as an American, I could find myself very comfortable because of the progressive and innovative nature of the city

Medellín, Colombia is a place where people from all over visit

Medellín, Colombia is a place where it is normal to overlook certain people

Medellín, Colombia is a place where drug addicts and alcoholics are unseen and disregarded

Medellín, Colombia is a place that possess real darkness

Medellín, Colombia is the home of Cuidad Refugio, the ministry we are working with

Medellín, Colombia has a 5-story building where the bottom floor is a homeless shelter every night / where the church- one of the most diverse in the city- is hosted / a bakery (the bread is DOPE and coffee is 19 cents PTL).

The second floor is a drug rehab program for men

The third floor is for women who are in need/women going through therapy after escaping the prostitution ring here/women in recovery from drug abuse/women who have escaped the crisis in Venezuela and need a temporary home

The fourth floor is the kitchen and kid’s classrooms where they take kids off the streets who aren’t in school and homeschool them every day from 8-12

The fifth floor is home to people who live here && also an office where they work with many local businesses as partners to teach the men and women who are in the program here work ethic and different trades

Medellín, Colombia is receiving a lot of light from this ministry- they have partnerships in so many different neighborhoods and do work all over the city

Medellín, Colombia is where ministry looks different every single day- we work with the women in the program, we travel to different neighborhoods and work with kids, we teach in the homeschool, we clean, we help with food donations, we chop veggies in the kitchen, we evangelize, we sing, we exercise with the women, we have bible studies, we lead worship in church, we share our stories, and we live  Every day looks different- and I LOVE that.

Medellín, Colombia is being impacted through giving away bread and sugar water on the streets at night

Medellín, Colombia is being prayed over and ministered too through people who give their lives away daily

Medellín, Colombia is a place that is slap full of God’s children who just don’t know it yet

Medellín, Colombia is a place that is impacting me

Medellín, Colombia is showing me what it looks like to really walk as Jesus did- among the individuals that society throws out and calls unworthy

Medellín, Colombia is a place where my teammates and I are challenging one another to use our voices confidently

Medellín, Colombia is a place that God is stretching me out of my comfort zone and teaching me more and more about myself and who He says that I am
