Kenya has been so many things for my team and me these past 20 days.
it has been so many memories, it has been:
answered prayers in transportation, lodging, and people who have just fallen into our laps
train rides with giraffes, elephants, zebras, and other animals outside the windows
walks on the beach with a local leading us to his village
sunrises and sunsets
walking through the market
learning how to cook chapati from my friend Rob
card games, I should say multiple games of one specific card game, Shanghai Rummy
cooking for local boys on the beach then swimming with them and throwing them from our shoulders until we physically no longer could
walking in my father’s footsteps in Mombasa and seeing what he once saw in the 80s
Swahili lessons from my friend John after he took us on a “sea safari” which was a walk into the ocean during low tide and seeing sea anemones with “nemo fish,” sea snakes, sea spiders, baby puffer fish, and many other little creatures
being taken in and cared for by the sweetest Muslim family who taught us true hospitality, kindness, and selflessness
exploring old town Mombasa
coconuts and snacks at “the lighthouse” overlooking the beach
ice cream runs
camels wearing hats on the beach and yawning
dinner at 1am after picking up Tori from the airport
church services with children singing, women dancing, and prayers for healing
painting a school
team time by the pool (which gave us green hair)
using lemons to get said green hair back to almost normal
meals with other missionaries hearing about their dreams and visions and how they have come to life in Mombasa over the years
meeting Nicole- the sweetest and cutest gal from Sweden
it has been filled with sweet days and sweet memories
I can’t wait to see what the next 9 days will hold!
Xoxo
