Greetings from Calama, Chile-

The driest place on earth

Home of the largest copper mine on earth

Where Chile’s longest river, River Loa, flows

And where I am currently calling home.

I don’t have the words to tell of all the things I have experienced, seen, or learned since arriving here, so I thought pictures would do a better job of telling the story.

Here are some of my favorites photos so far- which should speak for themselves since a picture is worth a thousand words, right?

I hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed capturing these precious moments in Chile!

The doorway we walk into and out of every day- to go to school, the market, and out to eat with new Chilean friends.

This is the GIRLS ROOM, where we sit, sleep, read, write, and play.

A favorite past time of our team- coffee with cards in the sun.

8 people in a compact car- every day and we love it.

A street that accurately represents most streets in Calama- vibrant, simplistic, & beautiful.

Friends at the Montessori School.

Kevin- my friend and student.

 Thomas Pond playing

 Running into recess!!

There are two Chinese takeout restaurants within two blocks of our house, this is us patiently awaiting the food that we really didn’t know that we ordered.

Making sopaipillas with Polly, the pastor’s wife.

A typical lunch for our team- not pictured: the 3 jars of peanut butter that we have eaten in less than 2 weeks.

Seconds after having my face surprise shoved into my 23rd birthday cake.

 Friends by a food truck!

My sweetest friend, Nicole Murray, with Emelia.

 THE BEST LITTLE CHICO, MANUEL.

A “bottomless lagoon” in the middle of the Atacama Desert located near the town of Chiu Chiu.

 Boys playing in the lagoon.

Honestly, I don’t know what to caption this- I think the photo speaks for itself.

Catherine Read, one of my very favorites, capturing sweet moments in the desert.

These are grocieries in Chiu Chiu.
