WOW WOW WOW
It’s so crazy to think that on this day last year I was graduating high school and today I am getting on a bus to leave my final country!
The World Race itself has not changed me, but God has done radical things. The World Race has done an incredible job of setting up opportunities for the Lord to shape me and for me to take steps of faith. Here are a few of the big things the Lord has done over the past NINE months.
The reality of the Holy Spirit
One of the biggest things for me has been learning exactly who the Holy Spirit is. He is alive and tangible. He moves and works. He lives inside of me (like every bit of me). He gives us the energy to keep going and helps us have the courage to speak boldly. The Holy Spirit is God within us and He is a really amazing guy.
The deterioration of selfishness
One of the biggest things I have learned in community is how much of life is learning to give and take. You have to set aside personal preferences for the better of other people. Over the past nine months, I have had to learn how to set aside my desires to allow other people to have what they need. By no means am I not selfish, but my team can attest to a big difference from the beginning of the race to now.
Learning to love myself, others, and God
This has been SO huge. It honestly is really hard to explain. It has been entirely what the Lord has changed in my heart. He showed me how to love myself better. I also learned a lot about how to love other people the way they need to be loved, not just how you normally show love. I have spent a lot of time trying to learn what it looks like to love God the way He deserves to be loved (hint: giving Him every single bit of your life).
The World Race has been a truly incredible experience and I could never thank God enough for allowing this to be a part of my story. I have had the opportunity to travel all over the world and serve and it has been more than I could ever dream. Through my time on the field, the Lord revealed to me where my mission field is. Costa Rica will forever hold my heart and I am beyond excited to return for 5 weeks this summer!!
So there’s a short little thing to sum up some of my time on the race. Check out the rest of my blogs to read more about the incredible things God has done!
