Just got word that I’ll be spending the majority of my time (while in Europe) in Albania! I didn’t know much about the country prior except for the fact that Mother Theresa was Albanian. So that has to be a good sign, right? Albania is east of the Adriatic Sea and right next to Greece. While the weather and view may be nice, Albania is widely known as one of the poorest countries in Europe. Almost one quarter of the population lives BELOW the poverty level, which is equivalent to $2 US dollars a day. I spend more than that on a cup of coffee. Europe will be the first place I go when leaving the US in August and I want to help in any way I can.

Oh, fun fact. Albanians shake their heads from left to right to indicate “yes” and up and down to indicate “no”. As if trying to pick up a new language wasn’t hard enough 😉
