What does it mean to be a warrior? Is there a certain way you speak or act? Do you have to have special clothing? These are all questions I ask myself when I am called a warrior of God. Let me back track to when I first heard that phrase though…

In 6th grade I started to really understand why being a Christian and that’s when my faith truly started to develop. Now I had always heard that you need fight for God’s kingdom and live out His plan but I had no idea how to fight for Him. At first I thought, “well God if I really need to punch someone for you will at least I got some practice by punching my brothers..” but that wasn’t even close to what fighting for God is. As I started growing camp leaders and other people leading me in a part of my journey kept telling me how much of a warrior I was and that I was going to fight for God. Once again I was completely confused because I never asked them to explain what they meant by it. I decided to wait and hear from the person I was destined to fight for, God.

Years went by and I kept hearing the same thing from different people telling me that I was a warrior and only now I understand what it means. I’m not punching anyone to fight for God but the way I will fight is through my words and through the love that I show people just as Jesus did. He fought with words and love, overcoming anything in his path including death.

In the bible it tells us about the armor of God and what each piece is. In Ephesians 6:10-18 it tells us to stand firm in our faith with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit. To be a warrior of God you need to have each piece on at all times, fighting for God with truth, righteousness, and peace that ONLY comes from Him. For the race I will have my backpack that will be strapped around my waist, I will have my tent and sleeping bag protecting me from the outside world just as a breastplate and shield would, I will have a hat acting as my helmet, and my sword is the strongest piece of armor and that will be my bible.

I have prepared myself with the armor I need to go out into the world, now I’m truly ready to be a warrior of God. Lets go fight.
