When I first heard about the World Race I found it interesting, but I never thought that it would become a reality. As I had to start thinking about my plans after graduation the possibility of going on the World Race became more real to me. Then I had to make a decision whether the World Race something I want to do?
So I began to pray and ask the Lord what I should do. Is this mission meant for me? Am I strong enough in my faith to do this? I soon realized that I did not have to be perfect to do this mission. With time and obedience, my relationship and faith in Christ only grew stronger. The opportunity for me to spending a year with no distractions and being able to help others, spread God’s love and build the Lord’s kingdom is an opportunity I want to take.
After thinking about what this trip actually means, I realized that the World Race is something that I want to do. I have always felt my purpose in life is to love people, to be a light in the lives of others. I believe this mission is a great way to use the gift God has given to me and use them to honor him in his glory. The Lord says to be bold and take steps of faith and that is what this mission will be.
Throughout my journey on the World Race I want to be a servant to God, use what I have received from God and give that to others, truly be the hands and feet of Jesus. I want to focus on serving others and put the things I have learned about the Lord and act on the things the Lord has called me to do.
In James 1:27 it says “What God the father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world.” I hope that through my mission I can have pure and genuine religion and care for those who are suffering. I want to love, and serve others as God has served me.
I’m not entirely sure what I am going to be doing on my mission, but I do know that it will be a year filled with learning, teaching, and obeying. I now that I will learn more about myself, other cultures, and most importantly, God. I am excited to see how God will work through these nine months.
I am so blessed by this opportunity and I would love for you to follow along as I go to Thailand, India, and Guatemala.
