Before leaving on the world race we frantically go through former racers blogs and read and try to prepare ourselves as much as possible for what is to come in the next 11 months!! Well This blog is meant to be on the lighter side! Just some funny things, no one ever mentioned I would miss being away from the US for 11 months!

1) ice water(or ice in general)- As we were sitting next to a waterfall with my feet dangling in the freezing cold water I realized how much I missed having ice water instead of room temp!

2) traffic laws- this makes me laugh! You guys, traffic laws are not a thing in Colombia! Ppl drive with no regards to anyone else on the road! Bikes tie strings to trucks and hitch a ride up the road, motos drive in between 2 cars just to get around them. There are very few stop signs or traffic lights! It’s a free for all on the roads!!!

3) safety laws-I mainly miss these on bus rides! Picture a small school bus packed with ooo let’s say 50 ppl, most of those are standing, some standing in the door way and the bus door never closes! They take corners going 60mph pretty close to being on 2 wheels lol it’s intense and I miss my seatbelt in those times!

4) fast acting medicine- holy moly! This baffles me here in Colombia they don’t need prescriptions but they don’t have a Walgreens, it’s this little “stall like” store with a person manning the counter asking what you need. I was sick for a good week and a half and the best I could get was some honey with eucalyptus in it. I missed NyQuil and thermaflu like no ones business!!!

5) sidewalks- they are almost non existent here, and there isn’t a shoulder of the road for u to walk on! It’s like a game of chance whenever you walk anywhere but surprisingly enough it has become to feel normal! It’s like frogger! Lmbo

6) ability to flush ur toilet paper- this is a weird thing but it’s a thing I miss and I feel it’s pretty self explanatory!

7) freedom to not finish ur plate that was made for you- momma Cristina is a FANTASTIC cook! We don’t pick out food or serve ourselves! Our food is amazing but I’m pretty sure she’s trying to make us gain 50lbs before we leave! And here in Colombia it’s considered disrespectful if you don’t finish your plate!

8)the ability to go and do as u please- this one is so real! When I was sick I was just wanted to hop on the crazy bus and go to market and grab some meds. Unfortunately that’s not an option! Everywhere we go momma goes with us, and it’s normally and all day thing which if you know me I’m not a fan!

9)Chocolate- Chocolate withdraw is a real thing! Dessert isn’t really a thing here! I miss Reese’s and cookies and cakes and all of the above! I’m sure they have them in the market somewhere but as mentioned above you can’t just leave and go as you please, so my love for chocolate is slowing dying! RIP- love for chocolate see you back in the states! (PS whoever picks me up at the airport bring a basket full of chocolate)

10)windows with good seals- YALL!!! Ok I am totally convinced this is why I got sick! (Can’t tell me nothing) I sleep next to the window and I hardly ever got sick in the states. The draft coming for our window is why I got sick! Lol (I’m sure it could b other things but I’m going with that)

Hope you enjoyed my list, hope you got a little laugh out of it!
