I am finding myself jumping into my second month of being in Honduras. I cannot help but wonder what did I do to already be 1/3rd through my World Race journey? You might be wondering the same! (It is hard to come across wifi)
The first month here in Tegucigalpa was a tough one. The country as a whole faced many trials. There was recently a presidential election that set the people in an uproar. Protest started up just down the hill, with some of them turning violent. From this occurrence my team and I had to stay cozied up in our little mountain home for sometime. Once we were finally able to leave our ministry site we saw the damage that had been done. Ash and soot covered the streets from a fire that had been started. A city wide curfew was established and there has been increased secruity everywhere. But overall we have been kept safe from the chaos. It has even started to settle down.
My heart goes out to this country. The horrors they have been facing these past few weeks is heartbreaking. Please be in prayer for the people of Honduras and the difficulties they have been facing. I have seen how much love the Honduran people hold and it simply saddens me to know they have to face this daily.
However, within all this mayhem I was still able to start up my new ministry for the month of December. I took on the title as a fourth grade teacher here at Loyalty Schools in Tegucigalpa. My kids have been coming in for half days for safety reasons, but we still have been learning lots! I have enjoyed student planning and chasing the kids down at recess. I even was able to do a science experiment to explain mixtures and solutions to the kids. It has definitely been something out of my comfort zone. I never would have imagined myself teaching in front of a group of elementary aged students but I have found joy in doing so. I am looking forward to the remaining days here in Honduras and attempt to make the most out of it.
Lastly, in order to stay out on the mission field to keep on spreading Jesus among the nations I am in need of some more financial support. I must have all my funds in by the end of January. I need $1,491 more until I am fully funded. It may seem like a lot but the Lord has done miracles. Just look at the bar above my blog! He is so faithful. If you would prayerfully consider donating toward this mission you will be allowing me to share Jesus all around this world. Even if you cannot support in this way, please be praying for me as I continue out this journey. God bless!
