Dust. It picks up as I walk through those metal doors. As I turn the key for the day to start. I know that with every step a smile will follow. The kids turn toward me and just as I predicted the corner of their mouths lift. If I had to describe these sweet moments in a few short words it would be: pure joy.

Pure in the sense that these kids come in new. A fresh start and eagerness to learn more, and joy, well that part is simple. Not a day goes by where these kids are not laughing or putting a smile on my face. It does not matter if it’s just us teaching them the basics of English or kicking the soccer ball around. They always put a smile on my face.

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about smiles. Reminiscing on all the smiles I have come in contact with these past 6 months and all the ones I have produced myself. So here’s to smiles!

In His presences is the fullness of joy. (Psalms 16:11)

Smiles. A gift that comes at the price of nothing but means a million things in one. Give a smile today, laugh with ease, because this life is short. You may never get this moment again. In fact I know you will never get this moment again because I am only 3 months away from being back in the states. Life goes by fast but maybe, just maybe, a smile could slow it all down. Even if it does not, what do you have to lose?
