It wasn’t but a few months ago that I was trying to figure out the college I wanted to go to next year. Would it be in state? Out of state? Private? Public? Would it be a school specializing in art? Would it be one specializing in Psychology or something else? The list goes on. I had been praying and praying that God would give me an answer to what university I should attend and what major and career I should pursue. I had become extremely frustrated because I didn’t feel like God was giving me any sort of answer; I didn’t feel His guidance and I didn’t understand why. Looking back, I know exactly why He wasn’t answering my questions: they weren’t the questions He wanted me to be asking! My mind was closed off to one possible path for my future after high school, and it wasn’t until I got to the point of completely surrendering my heart that I was able to hear what God was trying to tell me. He didn’t want me to go to college next year at all! I had been so sure that college was my next step, that I hadn’t let myself consider that maybe college wasn’t what God wanted me to do next year. I was only considering my plans, not God’s!
It was actually a friend who originally made me aware of the world race. When she started talking about the trip, I felt in my heart that it was what God wanted me to do. God had been creating a passion in me for the people of India, and there was a route that had India, as well as Romania, Ukraine, Chile, and Peru, and I could feel God pulling me towards it. I can’t say exactly why God is calling me on this trip, but I’m learning more and more that I just need to trust His plans and stop letting myself get caught up in worry. All I know for sure is that I’m going to have the opportunity to reach the hearts of God’s people from around the world, and I’m sure God will be constantly working in my heart as well!
