Hey everyone! We were all asked to share our stories of why we’re doing the World Race Gap Year, so here’s mine!

Growing up, I never knew what I “wanted to be”. I didn’t dream of being a teacher or doctor, I really had no idea what I would be. This was fine until sophomore and junior year came around and I still had no clue what to do with my life. I found out about  the World Race about two years ago but I never thought it was something I could do. Last summer when I went to Peru, the Lord began opening doors in my life. I got a glimpse of what it’s like to live in Christian community and to live life on a mission and I loved every second of it.

I believe one of the ways the Lord speaks to me is by giving me peace over decisions when they align with His will for me. I never got a miraculous sign from God telling me to do the race, but from the moment I decided I was going to apply, I have been filled with peace. I randomly felt a huge calling to Nicaragua and Thailand so when I was watching the route reveal, there was no doubt I was applying for route 6 – Swaziland, Thailand, and Nicaragua.

A lot has happened in my life over the last two years that have led me to where I am today and there are some things I’m still walking through. I believe in time these things will all be beautiful testimonies and I can’t wait until I can share them with you all.

I am doing the World Race Gap Year because I believe it is what I am called to do.

I’m doing the race because Jesus says GO and love people.

I’m doing the race because I still don’t know what the rest of my life will look like, but I trust Him. I trust He has incredible things in store for me and while I can’t see it right now, I’ll just keep trusting him. I will travel to these crazy places that He has called me to and tell people how good He is, and how much He loves them because I am sure of those things.

Thank you all for your love and prayers and donations, they truly mean the world to me!! Thank you to everyone who has been walking this journey with me! If you are able to donate, it would be a huge help and greatly appreciated. I would love to answer any questions you have!!

All my love

Abby 🙂
