Hello everyone! We are still living in Chiang Mai but this month we are at a new ministry! We just finished our first week and I am so excited to tell you all about it!
We are working at a place called Connie’s Home! Connie and her husband Richard are originally from Arkansas but moved to Thailand almost 20 years ago. Connie works with a government owned orphanage and she takes in the “sick kids”. Any babies born with health problem that cannot be properly taken care of in a regular orphanage setting come to Connie’s Home. Connie and her staff raise them from the time their babies until the day they’re adopted. The staff at Connie’s home are mostly women who are on a work release program from a juvenile detention facility. Instead of traditionally serving time, Connie gives them the opportunity to come work with her and she provides them a safe place to live and a chance to have a better life. They cook, clean, and help look after the kids!
Connie pours her heart into her ministry and it’s so beautiful. She loves people so well and so intentionally and I am so excited and honored to get to know her and work with her. She loves each child so much and works day and night to make sure all their needs are met. We got to celebrate her 50th adoption this week!
For ministry, we are helping with the kids! There are four two year old boys (a little girl was just adopted this week!!) and seven older kids. Jessa and I work with the littles! Everyday we have a strict schedule! In the morning we play outside on the playground and in the sandbox. After that we come inside and they have a snack and playtime until we do a lesson. Lessons look like reading books and doing some sort of puzzle or craft or game related to the books – so far we’ve taught about counting, colors, animals, ABCs, and shapes! After lesson they have lunch, TV time, and nap time. After nap time they have snack, playtime, and another lesson. The kids are so sweet and it’s been so fun seeing them open up to us this week. They all have such strong personalities for such young kids!
I’m so excited for the next two weeks we get to spend here! Your continued prayers for our team are so appreciated! Please join us in praying for Connie, the staff, and for all of the kids!
all my love
abby 🙂
