Welcome to my blog! My name is Abby and I think the random facts about people are possibly the best way to know them, so here goes:
- I was born in Green Bay, WI (GO PACKERS!!) and moved to Jacksonville when I was 10. For some reason I don't like being called a Southerner, but love love the Southerners in my life:)
- I was raised in the best family a girl could ask for; Dad-Bruce, Mom-Gail, Big Bro-Tyler and Sister-in-law-Kat. Also, I happen to have THE CUTEST nephew in the entire world, Ethan. Seriously. Entire. World.
- I graduated from the University of North Florida in 2009 with a degree in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine. I'm not a personal trainer, that's different.
- My favorite movie since I was 5 has been Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
- My secret "I've always wanted to do that" job would have to be a stunt-woman, weird, I know. Or maybe Rick Steve, he's got a pretty amazing "job."
- Crazy straws, the color yellow, college football season, being spontaneous with friends, vintage anything, antique shopping, white water rafting, camping with my family, Audrey Hepburn, old movies, Broaday plays, road trips, heirlooms, naps, Nutella…brown paper packages tied up with string…these are a few of my favorite things!
- I name innanimate objects: my car is Sylvia, my bass guitar is Ferris (see fun fact #4).
- I have 2 daschunds: Gretchen & Leisl
- New Year's Eve is my favorite holiday and I love fireworks.
- I cannot handle snakes whatsoever. Might need to face that one before I leave!
- I hate potatoes and beans, I can't swallow them due to their disgusting-ness. Also might need to get over that one before January!
- I've never had a blog before.
- By the end of 2013 I'll be able to say I've backpacked 11 countries in 11 months.
- And, most importantly…I'm the child of an amazing and loving God!!
I've known about the World Race for a little over a year now, but it was within the past 5 months that God really purposed it in my heart. Every day, all day, it was all I could think about until I finally took that step of faith and applied (crazy heavy mouse click!). A few weeks later I was accepted and invited to embark on the greatest adventure I've ever had and I can't be more excited! Excited, anxious, joyful, curious…and to be honest, scared! However, I'm honored to take this opportunity to serve my God and experience His love worldwide:)
