I have always been a sucker for a good story. Always. Give me a moving plot, some popcorn and beautiful scenery; I am hooked. Powerful movies stay with me, and being able to visualize someone else’s experience brings story to life.

That Thing You Do is my glimpse into life as a one hit wonder. Just hearing a song from the soundtrack can transport me to Eerie, PA and the excitement as the band hears their song on the radio.

The Shawshank Redemption left me without sleep for weeks in junior high because I was convinced that I would be falsely accused of a crime and sent to prison.

The Hunger Games makes me think of book club in Haiti and wearing braids to the premiere in Romania. I can close my eyes and envision the woods where Katniss would hunt and feel her pounding heart during the games.

The point is: stories leave a lasting impact, and the visual images that movies provide assist in keeping a narrative alive in my mind.

As my month in Mozambique wore on, there was a nudging in my heart with each passing scene. It was a familiarity of sorts.

There are countless stories and scenes from the Bible that have touched my heart, but I have never been able to truly imagine them until now. As a visual learner, I feel so loved. My heavenly father put a longing into my heart to serve the nations. In doing so, His word has completely come alive. I understand the daily time spent at the well. I have seen the fear in a father’s eyes when a field isn’t producing a harvest. The sick and the poor and the orphans and the widows… they now have names and faces in my mind.

This blog has no purpose except to share the love that I feel in this realization. God is taking me on a journey, and daily He becomes more real to me. I just can’t get enough of Him, and I love where He is leading me.

There are not enough words to express my thanks to all who have supported my journey so far. I only need $675.00 by July to be FULLY FUNDED! Please prayerfully consider donating here to keep me on the World Race. Thank you all again for your love and support!
