We are winding down to a close of this three-day blog bonanza with the first African installment of Life in a Day. Today is our final day in Mozambique; tomorrow we will be in Swaziland! This just in: next month is man-istry/woman-istry month. Meaning? Guys and girls are separated. The women of our squad will be sharing a house and enjoying life in the small land of Swazi. Whoo hoo! Here goes Alpha Gam part two.

As for Mozambique, this really was one of my favorite months so far. Africa is colorful, the people are friendly and the sun warms my soul… life is good. As sad as it was to see the desperation of so many people in Guija, the ministry consisted of all things I long to continue doing. I’ll hold hands and visit and pray and love people any ole day. Keep it coming.

Expect to see:

  • our daily routine of filling buckets with water in the morning. Lots of buckets. From a well. Pumped by us. AT 7:30!
  • Jack & Jess, the dogs of our contact, Tiene. He called them his “daughters,” and they ruled the place.
  • Mozambican woman carrying insanely heavy loads on their heads and babies on their backs.
  • our team enjoying delicious coffee, tea and oatmeal for breakfast each day with Tiene’s staff.
  • “Big Red,” Tiene’s Land Cruiser and our personal ride for the month.
  • Chris, treasurer extraordinaire, buying our fresh bread (pau) and bite sized doughnuts for us to enjoy.
  • my new best friend, Violetta, teaching me how to grind corn like a true Mozambican.
  • a new method of hand washing clothes that involves I Love Lucy style foot stomping.
  • me, in my role as the all-time egg fryer during lunch.
  • the beautiful faces of precious babies, sweet kids and families in need who received bags of clothes and Christ’s love this month in Mozambique.
