Oh, you didn't know?
I'm finally old enough to be a Racer!
((Wait, what? Isn't already month 4 for you?)(uhh))
Well, their web page told me that it was required that the participant be 21 years of age to go on the Race. Then I found out that you had to turn 21 by June 1st to be allowed to go on the Race. I have squeaked by the deadline by turning 21 on this very day, April 19th; a mere six weeks before the cut off date. Even though I turn 21, I remain the youngest on my squad- which I think is still pretty fun. This is my first time going out into the world, my first time doing ministry, my first time living in this type of community, my first time truly being removed from home and certainly from its comforts.
As we continue on in the Race, I believe our reserves are running lower. By this, I mean our independence from God. The less we rely on ourselves and the more we press into the steadfast love of the Father to carry us, teach us, mold us and lead us, we run lower on ourselves. As John the Baptist once duly remarked, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” We are continually reminded of our size here on the Race. We are continually reminded of our strength and how small it is- heh. God keeps building us up, keeps guiding us through, keeps teaching us, keeps being persistent and stands facing us with open arms. When we lose ourselves, when we let it go, when we open up our closed fists, when we forgive; this is when we grow.
So here it is, April 19th, 2013. I am here before you to ask that you help me on this, the rest of this journey, this Race. I know that I have been called powerfully to come here. I know that I have a purpose here. So I ask that you would prayerfully consider donating to my Race account to help in sending me to the beautiful people of Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Nepal and India.
