My new normal is sleeping in a sea of 60 tents on an open field , surrounded on all sides by monstrous mountains. Its eating a hot breakfast followed by worship with my family that has now greatly increased in number. Its heading out to ministry that looks different every single day. Its witnessing both  unbearable heartache and  uncontainable hope in the same situation.

My new normal is walking down the Guatemalan streets, saying Hola and Buenos Diaz to all of the beautiful smiling faces. Its chuckling as I am greeted with a mispronounced Hello. Its taking the alloted number of seats in a vehicle and at least tripling that. Its learning to communicate without words and recognizing that laughter is the most universal of languages.

My new normal is learning what Jesus meant when he called us to live as the church–  its real & raw. Its crying with people when they share their wounds and rejoicing with them as they are set free from bondage. Its learning to unlearn  expectations and  forget comparisons. Its meeting each other exactly where we are at and acknowledging that that is where Jesus wants us right now.

My new normal is letting go of my independence… I certainly haven't mastered this one yet, but I'm learning how to work in God's timing and not mine. Its recognizing that I have my Heavenly Father in this teeny, tiny little box that not even one characteristic of His could be held in.

It has only been 8 days since I left the states and my normal is being completely redefined. Its messy and a roller coaster of emotions, but I love it.

We are incredibly blessed this month and I feel like God is easing my squad into the WR. Yes we are sleeping in tents, but the Agape in Action facility is incredible. There is a common room that we eat, worship, and share life in. We have almost american bathrooms to use–toilet paper has to go in the trash can, but hey I'm not complaining. We have internet and are allowed to use it once a week. Its safe to say we are living like royalty for WR standards.

We have head two sessions of worship and teaching a day because the founder of Adventures in missions, Seth Barnes ( L squads amazing coach) came to Guatemala with us for the first week. Our squad is the "laboratory squad" as every new idea that AIM has is being tested on us, which I couldn't be more thrilled about because so far it has proved to be incredible.

For ministry my team went to the hospital and served our host ministry for the first two days, ill share a few stories in another blog because I will have to redefine hospital for you. We are now working with Pastor Brodi now, he is a young pastor whose church and home is in a garage in the city. We are serving his family and the church body in every and any way we can, it's anything from painting to cleaning to laundry to preaching.

Needless to say, my new normal is far from my old but more lined up with Christ's normal for the first time in my life and its an exciting new adventure that has only just begun.
