Welcome to Month 8!

This month we have been teaching at Siem Real Angkor Agape School, the only Christian school in the local area. We are teaching Monday through Friday during two out of the three weeks here, and also tackling various projects around the school while the students are on break during the Khmer new year.

It has been such a blessing to get to know the students here! I work mostly with 5th and 6th graders. They are so smart! We focus on English, and I try to come up with different ways to teach using songs, conversation, games and writing. Yesterday, we visited their homes, further outside of town. Many of the students live with their families, while a few live in a children’s home together.

This month we are going all out. We are pulling out all the stops and pushing ourselves past our limits. This is our last ministry together on the Race before our team changes next month, and we are coming together to as a team to support this school in every way we can.

Even though not all of the students are Christian, this school focuses on continually sharing the love of Christ through songs, stories and engaging with the children during break times. Since Cambodia is a Buddhist country, only 2% of the population is Christian. Currently, the school is struggling financially to pay the teacher’s salaries. Unfortunately, many teachers have already left.

We as a team are joining together to create a flash-fundraiser, going on now until April 21st, in order to raise money to keep the teachers who stay on a semi-volunteer basis. Would you prayerfully consider supporting this school that is striving to provide a quality Christian education?
